It is with great sadness that I tell you that Pern's mom, Fran, lost her battle with lymphoma last week. A case of pneumonia sent her back to Northwestern Memorial in Chicago, where she succumbed to complications. She was a wonderful, loving, funny, generous, and caring woman and we will all miss her very much. The following pictures were taken during our visit with Pern's parents at the end of June. We went to Indiana to see his folks for a couple of days and to spend his mom's birthday with her. We are both glad that we had a chance to see her in good spirits before she died. It was a good visit.
When we gave Fran her birthday present, we included a scratch lotto ticket, a tradition in P's family.
A scratch ticket requires a coin - preferably a nickel -
and a coin requires a dad!
Fran won $20 that day!
That boy loves his mom...
